How we achieve the sleek All-Black Touchscreen display design

In the previous article, we briefly discussed the definition, application areas, and products of the All-Black Touch Screen display. So in this article, we will delve into the specific methods and technologies used to achieve the All-Black Touch Screen display effect.

Method 1: Printing

This is the most common method. The borders are printed black, and the window area is printed with semi-transparent black.

Points to note:

1. The semi-transparent black ink should be in the same color range as the borders, close in shade. Too dark or too light will cause color differences.

2. Transparency control: Depending on the LED brightness and usage environment, the transparency ranges from 1% to 50%. Currently, the most common are 15±5% and 20±5%. However, the printing method is only suitable for small areas within 30*30mm. The reason is that the semi-transparent ink is very thin, and when the LED is lit, all surface defects become apparent. Imperfections such as screen printing scraper marks, uneven ink forming orange peel effect, and impurities are magnified. Therefore, large-scale printing is not feasible.

Method 2: Electroplating

Through magnetron sputtering and optical principles, an inorganic film is deposited on the glass surface to adjust the transparency and color of the window area, making it consistent with the screen-printed borders, achieving the integrated black effect. However, due to equipment limitations, this method is only applicable to small sizes and has relatively higher costs. The Apple watch uses electroplating.

Method 3: Grey Glass

Grey glass is a type of glass that introduces inorganic metal oxide colorants into transparent and colorless glass raw materials, transforming the originally colorless and transparent glass into dark grey low light transmittance glass, with a transmittance of 18% to 38%. By adjusting the color of the borders, an integrated black effect can be achieved. The biggest advantage of using grey glass for integrated black is that the raw material size for grey glass is 1600*1030mm, allowing for large-size processing. Currently, Reshine can process integrated black glass up to 32 inches.

Method 4: Film Attachment

Film attachment is currently one of Reshine's mass production methods. A 3M heat-insulating film is applied to the glass surface, achieving the integrated black effect. This method can also meet the demand for large sizes.

In conclusion, the All-Black Touch Screen display effect can greatly improve the static aesthetics of displays. It enhances the appearance of products, giving them a more appealing, luxurious, and high-tech look, elevating the quality of display products and providing consumers with a better experience. In the rapidly developing field of in-car display technology, All-Black Touch Screen display will become a trend.
